Seeing the different ideas people express throughout the world, it’s obvious art will always appeal. Whether it is a commissioned piece or a spur of the moment piece of passion, people want to express themselves visually.
What particularly appealed in Tirana was the vibrancy. Beautiful bright images in many locations. Even the old school character Sonic the Hedgehog made an appearance. Having grown up with him, it was a joyful blast from the past and put a big smile on my face.

A Wander
Tirana offered playful street art and it was often incorporated in a tasteful manner. By contrast, graffiti in my local area is often just a tag of someone’s street name. No interesting pictures or anything I deem worthy of a photo…
Here’s a selection of larger pieces that were photographed properly. My phone shots didn’t do them justice.
#muralfesttirana on Instagram showcases many more. How many will you spot on your visit?
Another cute little landscape scene I found when I walked round for my coffee was tagged #art.galery.insta.
Overall
Knowing nothing of Albania, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Pleasantly surprised by both graffiti and the modern art pieces, even the architecture struck a bold pose against the skyline. Full of quirky, colourful buildings, I need to see if I have enough pictures to create a post dedicated to just those.
The Vodafone Bridge (free Wi-Fi location) is a work of modern art in itself with it's Logo tunnel.
Modern art sculptures were also placed throughout which added to the experience. An up-and-coming place, Tirana struck me as a fashionable location with plenty to see and do. If you decide to visit, keep your eyes peeled!
